 Why I Started this Practice

Like many physicians, I completed medical school without taking a single course in nutrition, lifestyle, or true preventive care.  Although my medical training was excellent, at that point in my career, I was unaware that a big part of the healthcare puzzle was missing.

I completed my residency in anesthesiology followed by a fellowship specialization in cardiac anesthesia.  While working as an anesthesiologist, an unsettling trend emerged.  I realized that much of the important work I was doing involved addressing problems that were the result of diseases that are largely preventable.  Many of my anesthesia patients might never have needed surgery if early preventive and wellness measures had been implemented.  Additionally, I kept hearing more and more personal stories from people who had transformed their health, reversed disease, and eliminated long-term, aggravating symptoms, by just changing what they ate and how they lived.  It became obvious that there was an incredible untapped resource for health and healing that was all too often overlooked in the healthcare arena.

It was then that I knew I wanted to practice on the other side of the healthcare equation.  The goal is to keep people healthy and well through a nutrition and lifestyle approach and avoid much of the medication, procedures, pain, and emotional distress that accompany disease.

I have now complemented my medical training with studies in root-cause medicine and am thrilled to be working with clients in this very fundamental and powerful approach to health.  It truly can change lives.

About Me

Picture
As my healthcare philosophy evolved, so too did my own personal health.  For most of my life, my diet consisted predominately of prepackaged and processed foods and virtually no fruits or vegetables.  I did not quite grasp what it meant to eat healthy and how nutrition affected my body.

I've come a very long way since those days as a result of the knowledge and education I now possess.  After years of only knowing how to boil water, today I am an avid cook and have transformed how and what I eat.  I have incorporated many of the lifestyle techniques I teach into my own life and I have experienced first-hand the difference it makes.

I must also add that I am an animal lover.  I have a wonderful dog who has been the best medication I could have ever hoped for!
